Year One

The Legend of the Yostwell's Light

 

Long, long ago, when the world was on the verge of being swallowed by shadow, a band of intrepid heroes arose to combat the darkness. The last hope of the free world was an ancient relic known as the Yostwell's Light, but it lay hidden, and the heroes knew not where. Inspired by the words of an ancient rhyme, and led on by clues concealed in the hallowed village of Questport, the heroes recovered the Yostwell's Light and drove the dark powers from the land.

For nearly a thousand years, the people of the world were free to pursue their own interests and grab power where they could, until one day a fell wind again began to blow across the world. The evil magic, whom all believed to be banished forever, crept forth from the shadows to again darken the days and hearts of all free peoples. It was the belief of many that the heroes of old would again appear and strike down the wicked ones, but no such heroes emerged. Day by day, the darkness pressed closer, until the only place that remained free was the ancient realm of Questport...

Year Two


             The Mirror of Fog
 
A dark fog creeps across the world, seeking to blot out the light of the stars forever. The Prince of Shadows and Illusions is free, and he seeks to take back the world that was torn from the grasp of the fog-ghosts millennia ago. The Yostwell defeated the phantoms then, but only a fraction of its power remains, enshrined within the sacred relic known as the Yostwell's Light.                                       
 
Soon the only island of light left within a world of fog is Questport, standing proud and unbowed behind the power of the Yostwell's Light and the courage of its heroes. But day by day the fog grows deeper, and the Prince of Shadows and Illusions will not be denied.

And so the Lord of the Supreme Council sends out a desperate message, calling back to Questport the heroes who had won renown in the great Quest for the Keys one year before...

Year Three

The Cataclysm

 

It was a time of great rejoicing in the Sacred Realm. For with the Master of Darkness defeated and his allies scattered, with the Prince of Shadows and Illusions imprisoned once again,  what evil yet remained to cast a shadow upon Questport? The Tree of Light put forth blossoms of silver and gold, the voices of the Fellowship resounded triumphantly within the halls of the Temple, and the days of Questport were filled with feasts and festivities.

 But it was not to last.

For upon a dark and stormy night, a single blast from a horn rang out, and a tide of sorcery such as the world had never seen was unleashed upon Questport.  The Yostwell's Light strove valiantly against it, but even that most sacred of relics had not the power to resist such an onslaught. The Temple was cloven as if by a bolt of lightning, the Tree of Light burned, and Questport perished in fire and flood. The earth closed over its ruins and swallowed them utterly.

 

And thus did the ancient realm of Questport meet its end.

Year Four

The Lost Lady
 
 

Summer arrives in New Questport, and with it (almost inevitably) comes news of a quest. The call goes out from the Supreme Council, and the heroes hurry back to the castle, ready to save the world yet again.

But this year, the fate of the world does not hang in balance, and no omnicidal villain laughs diabolically in the shadows. Instead, our heroes are confronted with a quest straight out of a book of children's fables: to rescue the mysterious Lost Lady. As innocuous as this task sounds, however, it will force the heroes to confront the darkness that lurks within them, and to accomplish a task that is said to be impossible...

Year Five

The Power of a Wish...

 ...When the powers of Darkness, whom all had thought to be banished forever, crept forth from the shadows to again darken the days and hearts of all free peoples, it was the belief of many that the heroes of old would appear again to strike down the evil ones--but no such heroes emerged. Day by day, the darkness pressed closer, until the only place that remained free was the ancient realm of Questport, but even that most sacred place could not prevail against the onslaught of shadow. The Master of Darkness overthrew Questport and destroyed it utterly, and all light fled from the world. The evil sorcerer reigned over the Orbis Terrarum with an iron fist, and though many resisted, they could not hope to defeat him...
